Voice typing on Windows
Voice typing on Windows, without the cleanup
There’s a built-in way to type by voice on Windows, and there’s an AI dictation app that does the tidying for you. Here are both.
Mac & Windows · 1 hour free every month · no card needed
Option 1: Win + H voice typing
In any text field press Win + H and a small voice-typing bar appears. Start talking and text appears. Free on Windows 10 and 11.
It writes down exactly what you said — fillers, false starts and all — and doesn’t format lists. Good for short bits.
Option 2: TypeHey — hold right Ctrl
On Windows, hold right Ctrl and talk. Let go and clean text is typed at your cursor: fillers removed, restarts resolved, punctuation and lists added, mixed languages kept as spoken.
Hold right Alt to have your PC do things: brightness, volume, opening apps, locking the screen. Anything like shutting down asks first.
Get started in three steps
Download and install
Download the Windows version from the website (Windows 10 / 11, x64 and ARM).
Allow the microphone
Windows asks for microphone access the first time.
Hold right Ctrl and talk
Sign in and go. 1 hour free every month.
FAQ
Can I change the shortcut?
Yes, pick any key you like in Settings.
Does it need the internet?
Yes. Recognition and cleanup run on our servers, with nodes in mainland China and Singapore — the faster one is picked automatically.
What happens after the free hour?
Wait for next month’s reset, or buy hours — bought time never expires and your free hour is always used first.
